How games and social connections are transforming our lives
The last decade has witnessed the maturing of social networks. Platforms like facebook have successfully managed to create a layer of identity on the otherwise hyper-connected but anonymous internet. What this means is that for the first time we are living in a world where we all potentially connected and can leverage the power of our collective capabilities.
The other interesting fact that I learnt recently from a talk by Gabe Zichermann was that games are the only know power in the universe that can get people to do something which they may not always be in of their interest in a predictable way without having to force them.
If you pay attention to these two facts you will realize that there exists a huge opportunity for us to leverage the power of games and our social connections to create tools for transforming the world.
In the presentation, we have tried to share some ways in which these two powerful tools ( games and social connections) are being used to transform every aspect of our lives
We hope that these examples would inspire others to explore unlocking the power of social games to tackle their problems.
