Case
Pawaa is a data security and data leak prevention security paradigm. Its hacker proof military grade encryption ensures that only authorized people can access the files as per the policy set by owner of the content.
Pawaa wanted to build and manage a Google doc application on top of Pawaa platform so that Google document and Google apps users can use the secure Pawaa services. The idea was to bring enterprise type bullet proof security to thousands to SMEs that use Google apps.
Implementation
An application such as this was always going to have scaling, reliability and flexibility issues without the appropriate hosting solution. Moreover, Kuliza always wanted the most cost effective solution for a startup like Pawaa. Hence we decided to host the application using cloud services. Since the application met the Google App Engine compliances and the very fact that application involved working on Google docs, Google App Engine was the chosen as the preferred hosting service.
Wherever the application had compliance issues with Google App Engine, Kuliza created its own solutions and plug-ins to ensure the desired functionality for the application.
Following GAE (Google App Engine) Services were used for building and hosting the Pawaa application:
- Gmail contact list for auto- suggesting used Google contact API
- AJAX for document auto saving and for planned operations/controlling security actions (CRUD) on the document
- Integration with Google docs for converting Google doc files to Pawaa files and vice versa
- Google file systems for secure and reliable storage
- Google checkout integration for publishing the application on Google marketplace
- Google premium services to get premium version of the Pawaa application
Impact
The Google App Engine cloud infrastructure made it possible for Pawaa to significantly reduce their start up costs. Our services helped Pawaa in being shortlisted as the Top 10 innovators in RSA conference 2011.
