txtWeb’s business need
txtWeb had an SMS based app engine which could be used to develop SMS based apps – text based gateways for getting information and services through SMS. txtWeb wanted to promote this engine by building a developers community around it and giving appropriate social tools to developers and users to showcase and promote their favourite SMS based apps

Understanding the client’s needs and challenging deadlines, Kuliza decided to build the online developer community using the Joomla content management system. To meet the desired social dynamics from the community, the txtWeb’s developer community was built to have the following:
- Developers profiles and activities
- App brochures to enable app description and usage instructions
- An SMS app store (the first of its kind) with voting & review features on apps
- Facebook / Twitter integration for promotion of apps
- A support forum for the community to provide support to each other in app development and usage
- A multi- authored blog with author’s profiles
- Deep integration with the SMS app engine for reporting app usage and app popularity on the community

Impact:
txtWeb was launched as a contest in 4 leading technology institutes in India for their developer students. In the phase 1 of the launch which ran for 10 weeks, txtWeb received 850 SMS app entries from more than 1100 registered users. Impressed by the platform’s success, the client decided to invest to grow the community by 20x. Presently txtWeb.com is attracting 5000 visitors per week with more than 200,000 SMS requests per day.
